Building: win a plot and build your own house
Player building is here. Win a plot of land at the house auctions, learn carpentry, the fifth profession, and build your own house on it, floor by floor and wall by wall.
19 plots wait outside eight towns, and 30 more on Veldhaven, a new island town of settlers with no houses for sale, only land. Ships sail there from Thais, Carlin, Venore, Ab'Dendriel, Edron, Port Hope and Liberty Bay. Plots come in three sizes of about 64, 100 and 144 square metres, from 56,000, 88,000 and 132,000 gold. Each one follows the land it stands on, and its fence gate is the front door. A Premium character bids for a plot like for any house.
Tobin in Thais teaches carpentry, sells the hammers and builds you your own carpenter's workbench for its wood and some gold. Set it up on your plot, saw wood into planks and forge ore into fittings at it, and mine stone from the rocks out in the world. Then build floors, walls, doors, windows and fences there in five tiers, from rough wood to ornate stone. Every piece comes out as a kit that you can place, trade or sell, and carpenters also make 35 pieces of furniture, from fur rugs and beds to thrones and statues, in designs no shop sells.
Walls join into corners by themselves, and a hammer takes any piece back down into its kit. Then lay an upper floor from below, put a tiled or wooden roof over the house and build stairs or a ladder up. If you ever lose the plot, the house is torn down and 80% of its materials come back to your inbox.
The new Building page in the library shows every piece and what it takes.
