Artifact Box

Every character carries an Artifact Box with four slots. Fill it with rare artifacts from the strongest creatures, bosses and quests of 8.0, open its slots with a ritual, and each artifact lends you its power on top of your gear: magic level, a skill, hit points, mana, protection, speed or regeneration.

  • Archdemon's Sigil
  • Heart of a Demon
  • Eye of the Dragon Lord
  • Ember of the Inferno
  • Warlock's Brain
  • Seer's Amethyst
The best of them: the archdemon's sigil carried by Orshabaal, Morgaroth and Ghazbaran, the heart of a demon, the eye of the dragon lord, the ember of the inferno from the Pits of Inferno, the warlock's brain and the seer's amethyst, a timed gem.

The box

The Artifact Box button sits in your inventory, under the tools slot. Click it to open the box, then drag your artifacts into it as into any backpack.

A full box: a seer's amethyst, the eye of the dragon lord, the heart of a demon and the archdemon's sigil, all four slots open: two for good and two for 48 hours of battle.
  • 4 slotsEach open slot powers one artifact. Artifacts past the open slots wait in the box and give nothing until a ritual opens their slot.
  • Never lostThe box sits in your store inbox, not in your backpack, so it never drops when you die, and the artifacts inside stay safe.
  • One of each kindThe box takes only artifacts, and only one of each kind, so 4 slots mean 4 different powers.
  • Every character has oneFree account or Premium, every character finds the box in the store inbox at login. It waits empty for your first artifact.

Opening the slots

Every slot starts closed. Two of them open for good: the first with Melchior's first ritual, the fourth with the djinn's last one. The other two stay open for 48 hours of battle after each ritual.

  1. Slots 1 and 22,000 goldSlot 1 for goodMelchior, the blind seer of Ankrahmun, first asks for his old notes, lost in the ruins in the desert north of the town. Bring them back and he opens your first two slots: the first for good, the second for 48 hours of battle, again whenever you ask.
  2. Slot 35,000 goldFinish the Djinn War and the djinn of your side, Gabel or Malor, opens a third slot once the first two are open.
  3. Slot 410,000 goldSlot 4 for goodThe same djinn opens the fourth slot for good, the strongest box there is.
  • The 48 hours only run while you're in battle. Standing in town, travelling or being logged out doesn't use them up.
  • Every ritual sets the timed slots back to 48 hours. A ritual never closes a slot, so once all four are open you renew the two timed ones at your djinn for 5,000 gold.
  • When the time runs out, the two timed slots close. The slots opened for good stay open, and the artifacts past them wait in the box until the next ritual.

The artifacts

20 artifacts, best first. The stronger an artifact, the rarer it drops: the best come from demons, undead dragons and the raid bosses, and four wait in famous quest chests next to the old reward.

Timed gems

5 gems with two strong bonuses each, found as often as the 8.0 small stone of their colour, so a good hunt keeps them coming. A gem's time only runs while it sits in an open slot and you're online, its look shows how long it has left, and it crumbles when the time is up.

Good to know

How the bonuses add up
  • Artifact bonuses add up with item rarity and count toward the same limits for hit points, mana, skills, speed and protection.
  • All your artifacts together regenerate at most 6 health and 12 mana every 6 seconds.
  • Take a gem out of its slot and its clock stops until you put it back.
  • Savage, Elite and Mythic monsters roll their loot 3, 6 or 12 times, so they find artifacts that much more often. Bosses are never elite.
  • Artifacts keep their power when the slots close: open the slots again and they work at once.
