Veldhaven

A new town on an island of its own east of Edron, built by settlers for settlers. Veldhaven has a temple, a depot, a bank, shops and a tavern by the pond, but not a single house for sale: all its land is plots, waiting for whoever wins them at the auctions and builds there.

The heart of Veldhaven: the white temple with its bell towers, the market square with its fountain and stalls, and the depot with its clock tower.

Getting there

Veldhaven lies far out in the eastern sea, and only ships go there. Ask a captain in any of these ports for a passage; Wenlow on the island's pier sails back to each of them for the same fare.

  • Thais · Captain Bluebear, 160 gold
  • Carlin · Captain Greyhound, 110 gold
  • Venore · Captain Fearless, 60 gold
  • Ab'Dendriel · Captain Seagull, 70 gold
  • Edron · Captain Seahorse, 20 gold
  • Port Hope · Charles, 150 gold
  • Liberty Bay · Jack Fate, 170 gold

Veldhaven is Premium land, like Edron and the other Premium towns: the captains take only Premium characters there.

Temple, depot and market

Every road leads to the market square in the middle of the island.

The temple from the road, its garden and well behind it.
  • The temple, white stone under a red tiled roof with two bell towers. Step on the citizen field beside the altar and Veldhaven becomes your home town.
  • The depot and post office, with its clock tower: eight lockers that open Veldhaven's own depot, a mailbox and post tables.
  • The bank, a brick house where Osric keeps your gold behind the counter.
  • The market square, with a fountain, a statue, stalls and benches under the street lamps.
The market square: four stalls, the fountain and the statue, with the bank and the smithy beyond.

Shops and crafts

The shopkeepers came over with the first settlers, and each brought their trade's station along.

  • Wenna's general store, with a storeroom wing and a tanning rack.
  • Merrick's furniture shop, all wooden walls, beds and wardrobes, with a workbench for bows and furniture.
  • Brann's smithy, with the forge in its wing, a fuel yard and an anvil for weapons and armour.
  • Ysolde's magic shop in a stone tower, with a large cauldron for brewing.
  • The carpentry workshop with its lumber yard, where Tobin, the carpentry master, teaches settlers to build.

The Salty Anchor

Down by the pond stands the island's tavern. Marla sells bread, cheese, meat and a cold mug to everyone who comes off the boats, and the park on the pond's other shore has benches and a well.

The Salty Anchor by the pond, the magic shop's tower beside it and the park across the water.

A town of plots

Veldhaven has no houses for sale, only 30 plots of land: 12 small, 12 medium and 6 large. Win one at the house auctions and build your own house there with carpentry.

  • Build floors, walls, doors, windows and fences from your own workbench, climb a scaffold to build a walled upper storey, roof it, put stairs in, and furnish it with crafted furniture.
  • Trees, herbs and stones grow in groves all round the island, close to every plot.
