Professions

Swing a pick at an ore vein, fell ghostwood, skin a dragon lord, brew a berserk potion. Four professions with their own levels, tools and skill trees, and the materials to make your gear stronger, up to +5.

  • Cobalt Pick
  • Cobalt Axe
  • Cobalt Knife
  • Cobalt Sickle
  • Berserk Potion
  • Mastermind Potion
  • Bullseye Potion
  • Fire Oil
  • Energy Oil
What masters work towards: the four master tools, the 8.0 buff potions only master alchemists can brew, and the fire and energy oils that turn your weapon's hits into fire or energy.

Four professions

Every character can learn all four, free account or Premium. Each has its own level on your Skills window, right under Fishing.

  • Mining

Strike ore veins and rocks deep in the caves, from coal in the Dwarf Mines to cobalt in the Pits of Inferno.

    Materials, tier 1 to 5

    1. Tier 1
    2. Tier 2
    3. Tier 3
    4. Tier 4
    5. Tier 5

Ore reinforces swords, axes, clubs and armour. Miners also dig up small gems.

    Master: Brakka in Kazordoon

  • Woodcutting

Fell the trees of the 8.0 map, from the hills of Femor to the haunted ghostwood of the far south.

    Materials, tier 1 to 5

    1. Tier 1
    2. Tier 2
    3. Tier 3
    4. Tier 4
    5. Tier 5

Wood reinforces bows, crossbows and shields. Sometimes a tree gives up wood of the next tier.

    Master: Hollin in Carlin

  • Skinning

Use a knife on a fresh corpse and take what each creature is worth: an orc's leather, a minotaur's horn, a dragon lord's scale.

    Materials, tier 1 to 5

    1. Tier 1
    2. Tier 2
    3. Tier 3
    4. Tier 4
    5. Tier 5

Hides make your equipment lighter, and the rarest go into the buff potions.

    Master: Faelan in Ab'Dendriel

  • Alchemy

Gather herbs where the monsters roam and brew at the cauldron in a town's magic shop: fluids, oils, elixirs and the 8.0 buff potions.

    Materials, tier 1 to 5

    1. Tier 1
    2. Tier 2
    3. Tier 3
    4. Tier 4
    5. Tier 5

Herbs feed every alchemy recipe, and a gatherer sometimes finds a herb of the next tier.

    Master: Mirela in Venore

From apprentice to master

Every profession starts at level 10. Each level opens new tools and, every 15 levels, a new tier of veins, trees, herbs and creatures. Here is how long it takes, gathering steadily:

  1. Tier 1Level 10From the start
  2. Tier 2Level 25About 30 minutes
  3. Tier 3Level 40About 3 hours
  4. Tier 4Level 55About 18 hours
  5. Tier 5Level 70About 100 hours
  • Every swing, cut or slice at something that still holds material counts towards your next level, and each level takes a little longer than the last.
  • At a tier's level you succeed 20% of the time; each level above adds 1.5%, up to 60%.
  • A better pick, axe, knife or sickle misses less: 5% more success a tier, 20% more with a master tool.
  • Every level above 10 gives a skill point for that profession's tree: 60 points at level 70.
  • Profession elixirs add 5 levels for 30 minutes, enough to reach a tier early.
  • Profession levels never drop when you die.

Stronger gear: upgrades up to +5

Your ore, wood and hides upgrade weapons, shields and armour at the anvil, workbench and tanning rack in the town shops. Each level adds a random bonus, and a skilled crafter has better odds.

All about item upgrades

Brewing: potions, oils and elixirs

The herbs you gather become life and mana fluids, weapon oils, profession elixirs, solvents and the 8.0 buff potions, brewed at the cauldron in any big town's magic shop.

All about brewing

Where to gather

The better the material, the more dangerous the place. A vein, rock or tree gives 1 to 3 pieces and a herb plant just one, then each regrows after a while, never while someone stands next to it. First come, first served: good ore is worth a trade.

Cobalt veins in the Thais dragon lair: a dwarf digs out cobalt and gold ore while a dragon lord keeps watch.

Ore rocks and veins

Every tier has its own rock, so you can tell from afar what it holds. Veins line the cave walls and give the tier of the place they are in. A rock struck empty stays mined out until it regrows.

  • Coal-Veined RockTier 1
  • Copper-Veined RockTier 2
  • Iron-Veined RockTier 3

Your main profession

Pick one main profession at its master. It unlocks the master tool, which tier 5 veins, trees, herbs and creatures need, and the top row of its skill tree:

  • Mining: Cobalt Pick

    • Motherlode: a strike leaves the vein's charge 20% of the time
    • Heart of the Mountain: tier 5 veins give double
  • Woodcutting: Cobalt Axe

    • Heartwood: tier 5 trees give double
    • Deep Roots: a cut leaves the tree's charge 20% of the time
  • Skinning: Cobalt Knife

    • Clean Kill: a failed skin can be tried once more
    • Prime Cut: tier 5 hides come double
  • Alchemy: Cobalt Sickle

    • Buff Recipes: brews the 8.0 berserk, mastermind and bullseye potions
    • Steady Hand: a brew keeps one ingredient 15% of the time
    • Only a main alchemist can brew the berserk, mastermind and bullseye potions.

Changing your mind costs 20,000 gold at the new profession's master. You keep every level and point.

Skill trees

Spend your points on more material, better chances, rare finds, quicker work and better upgrades. Deeper rows cost more and open once you have spent enough in the tree. Pick a skill to see what it does.
